Script

Hi guys! My name is Anastasia and today i will be talking to you about the one and only Kanye West. I have chosen 3 of his music videos and I will be analysing the styles, conventions and techniques he uses and why.

The first video I have chosen is "Ni**as in Paris". I have chosen this particular music because it has a live and in-concert style to it. This means that the music video is real footage of Kanye performing live at a concert.

Another style it could come under is homage and this is where a music video pays tribute to another form of media, like Migos, walk it like i talk it video pays tribute to "soul train" a tv show in the 70's.

The conventions it uses are Allusion because throughout the video there are multiple references to the illusive organisation known as the Illuminati insinuating that Kanye west is a member. For anyone that isn't familiar with the Illuminati any mention of them direct or not is considered a form of flattery.

The second video I chose is "Heartless". This video has the obvious style of animation: Within the first 30 seconds of the video a super imposed technique is used. A super imposed image is where an image is placed on top of another one at the same time and you can see both images almost like chroma key. [image2]. It is clear in the video that rotoscoped animation was used to create it rotoscoped animation is when real people are filmed and then people have drawn over every move. Lip syncing tecnique is also used throughout the video.

Next I chose "Knock you down" which has a narrative style. Now for all Kanye fans out there we all know that this isn't actually Kanyes song he just features it however we all love him in it anyway. The story lines as so, Keri Hillson is in love with Kanye even though Ne-yo is in picture, she struggles to chose between the two because they are such opposites. Split screen is used to show the different love interests and how she can't decide.[image 4.25]
